Kids Place Orthopedics

A pediatric orthopedic office for children ages 0-16

Dr. Leah Pike is a board certified, fellowship trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon. She graduated with honors from UCLA in 1987 with a degree in Kinesiology. She graduated with honors from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1992. She trained in orthopedic surgery at Yale University, and in pediatric orthopedics at the Los Angeles Shriners Hospital for Children. She is a clinical professor in the department of pediatrics at University of California, Irvine, and has held teaching positions at Yale University, University of Florida, and Florida State University.

Dr. Pike worked for the Nemours Foundation, a multi-specialty pediatric clinic in Florida, before returning home to California in 2007. She obtained her business degree from USC School of Business in 2010 where she graduated with honors. Dr. Pike opened Kids Place Orthopedics in 2009 as a pilot project for her entrepreneur course at USC.

For Dr. Pike, the biggest difference between working for a foundation and owning her own business is the personal attention she can give her patients and families from their first phone call to the completion of their treatment. Dr. Pike runs every facet of her business from appointment scheduling to billing to treating patients.

As a business owner, she is able to stock supplies that make it easier for children to go home with what they need. Parents do not have to leave the office to purchase things like cast covers, tape, or braces.

Dr. Pike is the mother of a teenage daughter who enriches her personal and professional life.

In her spare time, Dr. Pike teaches Reiki, a form of energy medicine for stress reduction and relaxation. She is a strong believer in preventive medicine, and in addressing the physical, mental, and emotional components of each patient when determining a course of treatment.
